| Here is your first ever writing challenge!
Here's how it's going to work. Staff members can post Challenges - only Staff for now since I don't want a million going at once. If you have an idea, just message one of us and we'll make sure it's used, alright? The poster chooses the winner. Staff can participate too.
Alright, here we go!
Write a short story/post/something. The first line must be a line from a nursery rhyme.

| Hicory Dicory Dock.
The mouse runs up the clock.
James can imagine the voice taunting him from the depths of his mind as he barely dodges another bullet, the small metal object nicking his shoulder. He's running from them, who made his life miserable as an experiment and an object- never a person.
Fourteen years of age and he finds himself cooped up in an experimentation room. He didn't know why he was there, only that they needed someone to run their petty little tests on. They gave him the voice and told him to run. To sprint.
To survive.
They thought they had him under control, a silly mistake. They got cocky and started to leave their tools out, leave their weapons out, leave the controls out- the very controls that allowed them to control the voice, and in turn, James.
He took the advantage one day, overpowering one of them with strength that came from fear and adrenaline, and grabbed one of the surgical knives lying innocently on the metal table. Her stabbed the controls and ran; ran like he would otherwise die.
Time would have ensured that.
The clock struck one
Suddenly, James couldn't run anymore. His lungs no longer caught air, and a piercing pain resonated through his side. Or was it his chest?
He couldn't tell anymore.
The mouse fell down
Black surrounded the edges of his vision and cotton seemed to fill his ears. Their yells of "STOP!" became muffled as he slipped away into the dark. He knew he couldn't escape it, so why try?
